The McCall House Boutique Hotel

The proud heritage of the McCall House is tastefully documented with printed recollections, stories, and photos and carried on by the current owners. I was welcomed by Shanna, one of the two owners and found them to be a very kind, professional, experienced, and successful businessperson with a heart of gold who is easy to talk with, never rushed, and who anticipates guests needs and comfort. 2nd in charge, M.J., is a confident up and coming businessperson who possesses great intuition along with delivering the professional hospitality to carry on the leadership and legacy of this fine house with ease. Arriving to McCall house in Fall, it was delightful to find it seasonally decorated in the best of taste and curated to perfection. Brava! The furnishings were all in perfect condition, clean, and with antique pieces that were incredible, unique, interesting, and some were downright impressive! McCall House has several self serve curios cabinets around the house with any bits you may need from a robe, extra towels, or toothpaste at no charge. It was comforting to know it was there with no strings. Each room had its coffee, tea, etc but the house has two galleys for additional water, tea, cups, glasses, corkscrew, and other items as self serve. After a 3 day drive up the pacific coast, this was the perfect place to land and catch up. We planned to stay one night but stayed two because it was so great and the town so charming.

Had such an amazing staycation for our anniversary here! The afternoon tea was really great with all of the treats and snacks they make in house. The house blend tea was so incredibly good and I loved the warm scones with clotted cream and jam and the savory tarts. Our room was very comfortable and had an amazing clawfoot tub and towel warmer! The included breakfast was so lovely, we sat at a table by the big window overlooking the garden and had the best time. Sarah was a wonderful server and the owner was so accommodating as well. Thank you so much for our stay in this beautiful, historic, and charming house!

My daughter and I went to have tea at the McCall House, today. The setting was beautiful. Parking was very convenient. Very close to downtown Ashland. I ordered black tea. The tea was strong and just the way I like it. The sandwiches and the sweet items were fresh and tasty. The staff was excellent. Learned so much about the history of the house. I will definitely visit again and also would highly recommend it just for tea if you live in the area or lodging and breakfast of you are planning to visit Ashland.

This is a gorgeous property; our room (#8, in the back of the first floor) was wonderful. Immaculately clean, with comfortable beds. The instructions for getting into the house and the room were clear. Ample parking in the back. Close to Shakespeare, town, coffee shops, restaurants, etc. In fact, everything seemed to be nearly perfect....until around 7 am, when the kitchen got going and woke me up and at 7:30, a blender/food processor woke everyone else. Kitchen work is going to be noisy, we understand, but this just seemed excessive. We were up late at a play and, being on vacation, had hoped to sleep in a bit in the morning. However, that wasn't in the cards. I hate to take off a star, but this was a major bummer, especially for my family. Maybe because our room was next to the kitchen, we had more noise than other rooms, but given that the kitchen opens to the whole house, I'm surprised this didn't bother anyone else. Other than that, though, this place is really, really nice and the people we interacted with were friendly and helpful.

There is a lot about this bnb that works. The rooms are well appointed. The Italianate victorian is restored and nicely decorated. It’s spotless. There are three coffee and tea stations. The breakfast is delicious. The only things that give me pause are that the bnb has a “hands off” vibe. There is a key pad to enter the house and another to enter the room. Staff leaves at 6 pm. One pre-orders breakfast. It is a nice place but it misses one of the primary reasons to stay at a bnb versus Airbnb or a hotel: it’s void of a warm heart. I think we need that now more than ever.

The most wonderful experience in a long long time! A true, authentic B&B experience. What a great location - right next to the theaters and Lithia Park (5 min walk)! A sumptuous breakfast - with different specials every day, extremely thoughtful and considerate staff, and the opportunity to partake in a high tea. We’ll be returning every year to this absolute wonderful spot.

My husband and I stayed in the Chaucer Room for our anniversary weekend and it was so so charming. Breakfast was excellent and the hotel is immaculately restored and decorated. Within walking distance of a bunch of great restaurants and parks, can’t wait to come back and stay again!!

This property was absolutely beautiful! The location was perfect, you could walk to just about everything. The rooms were beautifully decorated and filled with everything you could use, but if you forgot something the property had just about everything you needed. The staff is very warm and helpful. And the food was absolutely delicious. I would definitely go back again anytime we travel that direction.
